Monitoring on the Ground

How can we measure the amount of water on the ground, also, can we measure the purity of the water for drinking.

Questions to be answered:
Monitoring
• Health related questions (quality):
• What is the best way to Test Water Quality?
o Large scale - national scale
o Small scale - individual villages/towns/cities
o Micro-scale (individuals) - For example if we had iPhone camera technology that attached to the iPhone and allowed you to collect spectroscopic data of the water, would this be helpful?

Monitoring of Quantity:
  • Monitoring of Aquifers - how much water is there, and how do we measure the quality?

Case Study:
  • Maps of springs, aquifers
  • Monitoring of water quality
  • Suggested technolgy - For example if we had iPhone camera technology that attached to the iPhone and allowed you to collect spectroscopic data of the water, would this be helpful?
